For those that were around to read The Official Preppy Handbook when it was originally published in 1980; you know that these shoes were considered 'the tennis shoe of choice' (TOPH p. 139) now they are just a cool alternative to those other canvas, rubber toe shoes that seem to have taken over feet everywhere.
